It will have image reproductions, an extended version of my curatorial essay, and shorter texts by Dodie Bellamy, Jamie Parra, and others. Coming spring\/summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p>I co-curated the pop-up queer video projection and storefront exhibition project <a href=\"https:\/\/galeriedesglaces.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Galerie des glaces \/ Hall of Mirrors<\/em><\/a> with artist Daniel Barrow in Montr\u00e9al&#8217;s gay village from February 28 \u2013 March 14, 2026. Brookbank for <a href=\"https:\/\/blackflash.ca\/your-voice-my-throat-kyle-alden-martens-b-brookbank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>BlackFlash <\/em><\/a>42.3 (Winter 2026).<\/p>\n<p>I presented the guest-curated screening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chromaqueer.ca\/sanfranciscosexualbabylon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>San Francisco Sexual Babylon<\/em><\/a> at the ChromaQueer Film + Arts Festival, Ottawa, on November 8, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>I reviewed Jenine Marsh&#8217;s exhibition\u00a0<em>Microcosm\u00a0<\/em>at the Buffalo Institute of Contemporary Art (January 24 \u2013 March 29, 2025) for <a href=\"https:\/\/bordercrossingsmag.com\/article\/jenine-marsh-168\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Border Crossings<\/em><\/a> 168 (September 2025).<\/p>\n<p>I held the 2024\u201325 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallery.ca\/research\/fellowships\/general-idea-fellowship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Idea Fellowship<\/a> at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>I introduced Charles Atlas&#8217;s 1987 film <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nga.gov\/calendar\/we-have-always-been-here\/hail-new-puritan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hail the New Puritan<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, on June 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>I presented on the panel &#8220;Public Intimacies: Rethinking Sexology and Sex Ed Media Cultures&#8221; (chair: Ankita Deb) at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmstudies.org\/page\/2025ConferenceProgram\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Society for Cinema and Media Studies conference<\/a> in Chicago on April 4, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>I guest-curated five film\/video screenings (which ran from March 20 to April 10, 2025) accompanying the large-scale exhibition\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/tang.skidmore.edu\/exhibitions\/636-a-field-of-bloom-and-hum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a field of bloom and hum<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>at the Tang Teaching Museum, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. On April 5, 2025, I was in coversation with artist-filmmaker Tom Kalin and professor Jamie Parra as part of the museum&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/tang.skidmore.edu\/calendar\/2597-queer-archives-symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Queer Archives Symposium<\/a> (photos <a href=\"https:\/\/tang.skidmore.edu\/calendar\/2597-queer-archives-symposium\/photos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>). Ondine Chavoya and David Evans Frantz\u2019s exhibition catalogue for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inventorypress.com\/product\/teddy-sandoval-and-the-butch-gardens-school-of-art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art<\/em><\/a> (Los Angeles: Inventory Press with Williams College Museum of Art, Vincent Price Art Museum, and Independent Curators International, 2024).<\/p>\n<p>My article with August\u00a0Klintberg, \u201cWhy Can\u2019t I Be Two People?: Aleesa Cohene and Benny Nemer\u2019s <em>The Same Problem<\/em>\u201d was published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.concordia.ca\/research\/jarislowsky\/jcah\/archive\/2022.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Journal of Canadian Art History<\/em><\/a>\u00a043. 1\u20132 (2022) special issue on collaboration edited by Erin Silver and Elizabeth Anne Cavaliere.<\/p>\n<p>I guest-curated the annual retrospective program<em>\u00a0<\/em>for the 2024 Berlin Porn Film Festival. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pornfilmfestivalberlin.de\/en\/program2024\/retro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>San Francisco Sexual Babylon <\/em><\/a>consisted of six film programs that highlighted the San Francisco Bay Area as the epicenter of the sexual revolution, and a place where artists of all kinds worked to advance sexual liberation. It ran from October 22 \u2013 27 at Kino Moviemento.<\/p>\n<p>I guest-curated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/belkin.ubc.ca\/exhibitions\/russell-fitzgerald\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>That Directionless Light of the Future: Rediscovering Russell FitzGerald<\/em><\/a> from the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery collection at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, which ran from September 3 \u2013 December 8, 2024. There was also a panel in tandem with the show on the topic of <a href=\"https:\/\/belkin.ubc.ca\/events\/symposium-russell-fitzgerald\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Difficult Kinship&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0at UBC on November 22, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>My essay\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/publications.vitheque.com\/en\/ap\/nelson-henricks-prix-robert-forget-2024\/the-end-of-the-line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;The End of the Line&#8221;<\/a> about Nelson Henricks&#8217; work for was published in the Vid\u00e9ographe online publication accompanying his win of the 2024\u00a0Robert-Forget Award.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote the text for Kyle Alden Martens&#8217; exhibition\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patelbrown.com\/kyle-alden-martens-spun-through-the-heel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spun Through the Heel<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>at Patel Brown, Montreal, April 25 \u2013 June 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>I curated a four-screening series,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/walkerart.org\/calendar\/2024\/series\/vibrations-for-a-new-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vibrations for a New People<\/a>, for the Moving Image department of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, May 3\u20134 (in person) and May 10\u201311, 2024, 7pm. Special guest Glenn Belverio made <a href=\"https:\/\/ashadedviewonfashion.com\/2024\/07\/30\/my-post-glennda-screening-talk-with-curator-jon-davies-at-the-walker-art-center-in-minneapolis-by-glenn-belverio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this blog post<\/a> about it.
